Services

Anesthesia

We utilize the safest available anesthetics in our hospital and tailor these to the specific needs of our patients.  We are especially careful with our older patients.  Pre-anesthetic diagnostics, including blood work and an ECG, are available and recommend before any anesthetic episode.  While anesthetized, patients are monitored by a technician as well as by monitors, like the one pictured here.  All patients also have an IV catheter placed and fluids are given during anesthesia to maintain blood pressure.  As you can tell, we take all measures possible to ensure a good outcome for each pet.

Bathing

Bathing services are available for all pets.  Mondays are reserved for baths on boarding patients, but baths can generally be requested the rest of the work week.  We bathe both dogs and cats, and do routine as well as medicated baths.

Boarding

Where better to board your pet than with your veterinarian?  We have boarding kennels available for all size pets, though space is limited for very large dogs.  Pets are walked at least 3 times a day, but usually more.  All boarders must be current on their vaccinations and intestinal worm checks.  Pets are checked for fleas at the time of drop off, and will be treated if needed.  Pets may be dropped off and picked up during normal business hours Monday through Saturday.  Holiday boarding fills up quickly, so make your reservations as soon as you can.

Dentistry

At CCAH, we believe strongly in the importance of dental care.  This starts at home with brushing teeth regularly.  Even so, the time will come when your pet needs their teeth cleaned.  We offer dental cleaning with our ultrasonic scaler, followed by polishing and fluoride treatment.  We also will extract teeth as needed and perform some oral surgery.  For specialized dental care, such as root canals, we will refer your pet to a specialist.

Emergency Services

We provide full services for all emergencies during our regular business hours.  Emergencies take priority over all other appointments, and often receive care from multiple doctors on presentation.  For after hours emergencies, there are several centers around the Charlotte area to serve your needs.  Click here for a list.

Laboratory

Our hospital employs state of the art laboratory equipment to perform complete blood counts, urinalysis, serum chemistry and electrolytes, as well as heartworm, feline leukemia/FiV, and intestinal parasite tests.  This allows us to get results immediately to better treat your pet.  When necessary, blood can be sent to a commercial veterinary laboratory for more complete blood work, specialized blood tests, and histopathology.  In most cases these results are back in 24 hours.

Medical Services

Our hospital is equipped to provide high quality diagnostic and therapeutic care for your pet.  From our in house laboratory to our endoscopic services to hospital care, we can do almost everything.  In the event that your pet needs other care, such as ultrasound services or CT Scans, we have a good relationship with several specialty clinics in town and will refer your pet appropriately.

Pharmacy

We maintain a wide range of pharmaceuticals, shampoos, heartworm prevention, flea and tick controls, and nutriceuticals for all your pets needs.

Preventative Medicine

At CCAH, we believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.  As such, we recommend maintaining your pets health by preventing diseases through twice a year examinations, appropriate vaccination, medications (such as routine deworming and heartworm prevention), monitoring blood profiles, and other care such as dental cleanings when needed.  By preventing some diseases and detecting others early, we can help your pet live a longer, happier life.

Radiology

Our in clinic X-ray equipment allows us to get vital information about your pet immediately.  We have recently updated our equipment to the latest digital radiology technology available; the same equipment used in human hospitals around the world.  This will allow for even better radiographs as well as easier off site consultations with expert veterinary radiologists.

Surgery

At CCAH, our doctors are capable of a wide range of surgical procedures.  From spays and neuters to abdominal exploratories to various orthopedic procedures, we can provide top notch care.  In the event that your pet needs special care, we have a good relationship with many board certified veterinary surgeons in the Charlotte area.
